Being from in Cork, it made sense for us to responsibly support local organisations. We are delighted to help Ocean Research & Conservation Ireland and Cork ARC Cancer Support House with whom we evenly split 5% of all turnover generated on this website. This money will be paid to both organisations when our company accounts have been finalised after year end which is always the 31st October.
Cork’s Ocean Research & Conservation Ireland was an obvious choice once I had examined ocean conservation organisations in Ireland. I take a keen interest in the preservation of the oceans, have spent hundred’s of hours diving underwater and am utterly dismayed by the damage we are doing to the oceans with single-use plastics, overfishing, increased ocean acidity and waste or chemical spills.
I have always been in love with the sea – swimming, sailing, rock and crab fishing as a youngster to scuba diving and paddle boarding later in life to just staring at the sea’s vastness as the sun sets.
I know my behaviour alone won’t resolve the massive issues mentioned above, but I can change what I do personally and what my company and our staff do and in our own little way we can make a difference.
Therefore, Ocean Research & Conservation Ireland are a good fit with us and hopefully us with them.
While for me it is important to have environmental concerns and to support environmental initiatives, it is also hugely important to bring awareness and support those who work to bring society’s biggest scourge – Cancer, under control or at least (for the time being) help improve cure rates and provide support and services to those fighting the disease and the many health workers involved too.
I chose the Cork ARC Cancer Support House as my Mother spent nearly 5 years battling the disease before she passed away in October 2018. I know how kind the staff are at ARC House as my Mother always spoke glowingly of them and the services they provide in an under-staffed and under- funded environment. We are delighted to help in our small way. Mum loved soft lighting and candles; therefore, our Cherry Light brand was also created with her in mind and I sincerely hope people will love the colour combinations as I know she would have.
